3.1 for Thursday

#1 - Had my first run in my New Balance 1010 Minimus shoes. The warning labels are right, you really do need to wean yourself into them! I only went for a couple miles. I basically stopped when I started to feel some slight pulling pain in my achilles tendons. I can see how people who put them on for the first time and go run 10 miles can get a lot of pain. My knee was a little sore afterward, but not too bad.

#2 - This was the scene in my room last night! Who would have thought two small animals would be able to shove me out of bed! You can see Titus is where I was trying to sleep. Just like the hubs was home...

#3 - Speaking of the hubs...I had better get packed as I am off tomorrow to head back to Hawaii to see him for the weekend! Good thing I won't need to pack very much...I am sure I can get it done tonight (or rather, I had better ha ha)!

#3.1 - Please continue to keep Oklahoma in your prayers! They need our help and support right now to piece back together their lives.

I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Blessings,

Kate

Shoe Deal of the Day

Yup! Of course I scored a great new pair of running shoes at a great price! It's what I do!

I am so excited to put some miles on these New Balance 1010 shoes!

I was looking for a lighter shoe and was thrilled when I stumbled across this pair! They should be here on Tuesday! I am even debating taking them back to Hawaii with me to help break them in a bit!

I run on a lot of loose gravel and such, so I think trying a more trail type shoe might be the ticket to success!

Here is what New Balance has to say about them...

The New Balance Minimus 1010 trail runner introduces a new kind of minimal fit to the performance-driven runner, taking a remarkably lightweight, stylish upper and combining it with ROCK STOP (R) protection in the forefoot and a supremely durable Vibram (R) outsole. Knocked down to a 4mm drop, this up-and-coming minimalist superstar helps you go the distance again and again while simultaneously allowing you to concentrate on your form and the exhilarating feel of the trail beneath you.

And of course...the best part...originally $109.99...and I paid $39.99! Score!

Blessings,

Kate

More Running to Come

Be prepared...for a lot more posts on running...

Yes, we are getting back into the swing of things and ready to push some boundaries! I have Hal Higdon's Intermediate 5k training plan ready and waiting!

It will start next Thursday. Why Thursday? Because I had to adjust the schedule to accomodate the rest days. Monday and Thursday do not work as rest days for me. I need them to be Sunday and Wednesday due to church schedules. But I have decided it is time to kick it back up to high gear...I need some PR's! :-)

The question still remains whether or not Allie will be joining me. I am not sure if she will be willing to do such a structured training schedule. We shall see! If not, I will be putting in time at the track so I can see her while I am getting in my miles.

I am super excited for my new running shoes! They will be here Tuesday! I might even wear them on this next trip to Hawaii just to help break them in before I kick up the mileage.

Current countdowns...

 - 7 days until Hawaii - Round 2
 - 15 days until the hubs is home
 - 91 days until the Electric Run
 - 223 days until Christmas

Don't forget...tomorrow is the last day to enter the GIVEAWAY!!!

Blessings,

Kate

Sunday Soul Day

We will be taking a brief break from our talks about soul winning and reaching out to others. The next couple of posts will be on the subject of revival. Of course, i get most of my inspiration from my church services, so this will go right along with our spring revival we just completed. We had an amazing 5 services by our guest pastor. I am going to go along the 5 services and summarizes the messages as best I can!

First off, let's read 1 John 3:1-18

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God; therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
Beloved now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
And ye know that he was mainfested to take away our sin; and in him is no sin.
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
Marvel not, my brethre, if the world hate you.
We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.
Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Now after reading that passage, I am going to ask you to do the same as we were asked...think about God's love. Just think of the love He has for us. It's quite amazing when you stop...and think...

1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We certainly serve an amazing God. All we have to do is confess our sins and just like that He will forgive us. I know that would not be something I would be able to do easily every time. Could you? Thankfully, we do not have to because God does it for us. He loves us that much! That's pretty darn impressive if you ask me!

God's love is everlasting:

Jeremiah 31:3 - The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.

Ephesians 2:4 - But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us

Ephesians 3:19 - And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.

1 Peter 4:8 - And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

1 John 3:16 - Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

God's love directed toward us:

2 Corinthians 6:17-18 - Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

There are two more points I would like to share with you...

*The Son of God became the Son of Man so that the sons of men may become the sons of God*

IS HIS LOVE AFFECTING YOU?

Blessings,

Kate

Anyone else ever overslept and missed a race before?

Almost Time...

It's almost time! Essentially 3 days until we are in Hawaii! So excited to see the hubs (and be in Hawaii) I can hardly wait!

Things have been crazy busy around here trying to get ready. We have to get the house ready for the pet sitter, I have to finish my finals, we have had to shop and pack, and of course regular life! :-)

So, I am really not ignoring everyone...promise! And I will definitely work on posting all of our Hawaiian adventures as we do them! :-)

Another Day

On Tuesday, my co-worker LB, and I wore our race shirts in support of Boston. LB and I are the only runners in the office, but we make up a pretty good percentage as there are only 5 of us on the medical staff and 2 surgeons. :-)

Allie also wore a running shirt to school that day, but I had a mommy fail and did not snap a picture.

I am still a bit fuddled by what happened at the Boston Marathon. It is still hard to wrap my mind around. I have been reading other blogs with their first hand accounts of the activities that went on. I cannot imagine the fear all of those people had. I just continue to pray for everyone involved.

Allie and I ordered our Boston Tribute shirts today. It is the least we can do. 100% of the proceeds goes to One Fund Boston to help the victims on Monday's bombings. There are quite a few companies doing this same idea with different merchandise, like Razzy Roo Headbands. Check them out, get some new gear, and support a great cause.

On a lighter note...10 days to Hawaii!!! And 13 days until we toe the line at Jamba Man Chase 2013...

Blessings,

Kate
